How to Prepare for Your Lash Extension Appointment

By Diva Lash Phuket · Updated 7 October 2026 · 4 min read

Arrive with clean, makeup-free eyes, skip oily products and heavy caffeine, and allow up to two and a half hours. A little preparation gives the adhesive a better bond and your set lasts longer.

Should I wear makeup to a lash appointment?

No. Mascara, eyeliner and eye cream leave residue that stops the adhesive bonding properly, and cleaning it off eats into your appointment time. Wash your face with an oil-free cleanser before you come. The rest of your makeup is fine.

What should I avoid on the day?

Avoid oil-based skincare and sunscreen around the eyes, waterproof mascara in the days before, and strong coffee or energy drinks right before the appointment, since caffeine can make your eyes flutter while you lie still. If you wear contact lenses, bring a case and take them out before we start.

How long will I be lying down?

A full set takes between 90 minutes and two and a half hours depending on the style. Infills take 60 to 90 minutes. You lie with your eyes closed the whole time, so use the bathroom first and bring headphones if you like to listen to something.

What if I am arriving from the airport?

We are five minutes from Phuket International Airport, so many clients come straight from a flight. Bring an oil-free cleanser or micellar water and wipe your eyes in the car, and tell us your flight time when you book so we can hold a slot that allows for delays.

What should I tell the lash artist?

Mention any eye sensitivity, recent eye infections, allergies to adhesives or lash products, and whether you have had extensions before. Show us a photo of a look you like. We will tell you what is realistic for your natural lashes.

The bottom line

Clean eyes, no oils, no rush. Tell us about your lashes and the look you want, and we handle the rest.

Questions

Can I get lash extensions with contact lenses in?+

Please remove them before the appointment. The adhesive fumes and the time with your eyes closed can irritate lenses.

Can I drive after a lash appointment?+

Yes. Your eyes may feel a little watery for a few minutes, but there is no lasting effect on your vision.

Does a lash appointment hurt?+

No. You lie with your eyes closed while the artist works on the lashes themselves, not the skin. Most clients fall asleep.
